  • What are the benefits of going solar?

Most homeowners choose to go solar for years of electricity bill savings.

If a homeowner purchases a solar system, they are entitled to the Federal Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC). The ITC allows them to take 30% of the total cost of the solar system and apply it as a tax credit in the following year. If the homeowner does not pay federal taxes each year, they may not qualify for the Investment Tax Credit (ITC).

In addition to years of electricity savings, the homeowner will contribute to helping the environment by going green!

  • Is my house right for solar?

The amount of sun your roof receives will dictate how good solar is for you. The direction of your roof will determine how effective the sun is. A south-facing sun produces the highest solar production.

The higher the cost of electricity from your utility company, the more money you will be able to save by going solar.

Homeowners who use lots of electricity and have a good roof for solar will benefit from solar and the government incentives program.

  • How much does solar cost?

The cost is directly affected by how much energy you use, which means your home may need a system that costs more or less than the average homeowner.

If you purchase a solar system, you are entitled to the Federal Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC). The ITC allows you to claim 30% of the total cost of your system and apply it as a tax credit in the following year. For example, if you purchase a $20,000 system, you will be able to take $6,000 off your taxes the following year.

A solar proposal will show all the costs and savings of going solar. The proposal will also include the 30% tax credit, for homeowners who are eligible for this incentive.

Outside of PPAs and leasing deals, a new solar system offsetting as close to 100% of the average American household energy usage will typically cost between $20,000 - $25,000.

  • How long will my solar panels last?

The solar industry standard warranty on solar panels is 25 years, with a 12-year warranty on the inverters. At Sun Nerds Solar NE, we offer our clients a 30-year warranty for workmanship, solar panels, and inverters. We only use high-quality tier 1 solar panels and equipment for long-lasting performance.

  • How do I know which solar company to trust?

One of the most difficult decisions when considering going solar is which solar company to trust. There are many solar companies to choose from. Finding a good company requires researching a company's history and reviews, which is not easy, as many larger companies manage their reviews.

As a Sun Nerd Solar Broker, we work with companies we trust will do a good job for our clients. As a broker, we work with a group of solar companies, and because we bring them lots of business, we get much better pricing for our clients.
